Scholarship Student Update 2008

Marisol
Marisol has recently completed her Early Years teaching degree and is now a qualified nursery teacher. She undertook her teaching practice in the nursery class in El Paisnal's primary school. She is committed to supporting her community and is actively involved in the village council (Directiva). Marisol is now looking for work as a teacher and has decided that when she gains employment she will contribute a percentage of her salary to the Education for the Future Fund to help other young people from Dimas Rodriguez attend university.

Sonia
Sonia is in the third year of her five-year Philosophy degree and is enjoying every minute of it. She is actively involved in student life and has now started her own mini tie-dye and screen-printing business to help fund her studies. Sonia returns every weekend to Dimas Rodriguez and plays an active role in community organisation and activities.

Griselda
Griselda is Education for the Future's newest student. She recently completed her high school studies and has now started a degree in Public Accountancy at the University of El Salvador. Griselda is delighted that she is able to go to university and is very much enjoying her course and has made lots of new friends.

Celo
Celo is in the final year of his Secondary Maths teaching degree. He has just been awarded a scholarship which will cover his accommodation, food and university fees for the remainder of his course. Celo will no longer need Education for the Future funding.

Chago
Chago is studying part time for his Secondary Maths teaching degree. He has recently got married and moved out of Dimas Rodriguez, which has led to him relinquishing his Education for the Future scholarship so that another young person from the community can be selected to receive financial support. Chago is continuing his studies.
